Shiraz / Strathbogie + Alpine Ranges / Victoria
Jimmy Watson Finalist 2006, Gold Medals Sydney International + Royal Melbourne, Silver National Wine Show. Shiraz for this wine came from superior Blocks 6 and 7, positioned to a north south aspect. The vines were planted in the nineties, making them the oldest and most balanced in the vineyard. Winemaker Michael Clayden has taken home gold and silver at many events, where he often participates as an associate judge. He has worked at several major Lindemans wineries, and his special passion is for Shiraz.

Tempranillo / Ovens Valley / Victoria
Tempranillo is an early ripener which tends to develop fuller flavours and aromatics when grown to the cooler climes of Victoria's Ovens Valley. Mayford Vineyard was established within a mildly temperate amphitheatre, with a view to crafting limited yields of hand made wine. Tempranillo was a natural fit with its late bud burst and early maturity, planted on a bony ridge which restricts berries to pea size, keeping the vines inherent vigor in check. A flagship boutique effort, treated to an old world vinification, achieving an evocatively new world styling.

Chardonnay / Ovens Valley / Victoria
The long cool ripening seasons of the Victorian Alpines are ideal for winegrowing. The team at Mayford settled on the Ovens Valley and established their small dry grown vineyard within a hidden vale that's blissfully frost free. Proprietor Eleana Anderson is a vigneron with a focus on investment rather than return. Viticulture to her is all about how much more effort you can put in to build a better crop. Her fruit is vinified to the same exacting standards, limited yields ensure that there's not much Mayford wine around to see the next vintage.

An assemblage of King Valley fruit, some parcels acquire their individuality in the vineyard, while others develop their charm in the vinification and ageing. Previous vintages have claimed conspicuous accolades including a silver medal at the prestigious London International. Much of the fruit is sourced from eminent sites around Whitfield in King Valley, not far from the Gapsted wineworks. Growing conditions can be close to perfect in these higher altitudes and the team make it a priority to capture and preserve the exceptional quality of Shiraz.

Merlot / Alpine / Victoria
Devils Creek runs along the base of Mount Buffalo, providing a precious source of water to replenish vines which yield the most splendid harvests of Alpine Valley Merlot. The creek was famous for disappearing underground some years and welling up again in plentiful supply during others, leaving the exasperated locals to liken it to the devil himself. A vibrant cherry red wine exuding lifted ripe plum and chocolate notes. Fully flavoured with a hint of cool climate spice and fine oak integration. Who knows, a few glasses of Devils Creek may bring out the devil in you.

Muscat Muscadelle / Alpine / Victoria
Muscat of Alexandria has flourished in the northeast of Victoria since settlement. Whilst it is well known for the thick, rich fortifieds that come out of Rutherglen, there are many clones, it is one of the few varietals that actually tastes of grape and can make the most refreshing wine. Coldstone's vineyards are situated on the higher altitudes of the Victorian Alpines, where wine grapes thrive under the cool climate conditions, crisp winters and warm summers. With or without food, a chilled Zibibbo is the ideal way to celebrate life.
